What is a Steeplejack?
The term “steeplejack” dates back to the 17th century when workers in the UK began climbing tall structures like church steeples to carry out repairs and maintenance. The trade often incorporated unique styles of rigging and climbing that allowed access to otherwise impossible to reach areas. While the 21st century has brought with it many improvements to technology and machinery with the advent of boom lifts, cranes and staging, the tried and true skills of ropes and rigging have been passed down and are still employed today.
